FAQs for Flight Instruction
Q: How much will it cost me to learn to fly? A:The cost required to prepare for the private pilot certificate can vary depending upon the plane used, and the abilities of the student. See the answer below.

Q: How long will it take me to learn to fly? A:The amount of time required for a primary instruction (preparing for private pilot certificate) can vary considerably depending on the natural abilities of the student, and the frequency of flying practice. Flying once or or twice a week is recommended while building these new skills.

However, it should take from 40 - 200 hours of instruction (40 is required by the FAA) with 75-100 hours a more common range. But some people just take longer. This instruction can be spread out over 6 to 9 months.

Q: Do I need to take ground school before or after flight instruction?
A: Ground school can be taken before or concurrently with flight instruction. However, the latter portion of flight instruction requires solo flights without the instructor, but in consultation with the instructor. These cross-country flights are allowed only after the completion of ground school.
Q: Which ground school do you recommend?

A: Ground school recommendations for residents of San Luis Obispo County need a little research - since Clegg Flight Instruction is moving from the Bay Area - send email if you have an urgent need for an answer.
